Full-Time Office Administrator
OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR A Manhattan synagogue with approximately 250 member units, is seeking a full-time Office Administrator to manage bookkeeping, oversee building facilities, maintain member database and oversee purchasing, equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a record of success in bringing attention to detail, resourcefulness and interpersonal skills to support a growing and vibrant community. Mastery of Excel, Quickbooks, MM 2000 (or equivalent membership system) is required. The Office Administrator will report to the Executive Committee and assist the Rabbi, Cantor and Education Director as well as provide support to the Executive Committee, Board and other lay leaders. Successful candidates must demonstrate comprehensive experience and understanding of synagogue management and basic knowledge of synagogue structure and mission. We seek a candidate who demonstrates initiative, ability to multi-task, excellent clerical skills, and who adds to those skills good judgment and discretion, and a warm and engaging personality. Additional qualifications include: minimum 5 years of proven experience (preferably in a synagogue or similar nonprofit organization), Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES BOOKKEEPING • Manage A/R, A/P, payroll, books, reports schedules, clerical, administrative responsibilities and tasks • Design, implement, and maintain records and filing systems • Ensure procurement best practices
OFFICE & FACILITIES • General office coverage: respond to inquiries from members and others • On-site presence at Temple events (as needed, may be occasional weekend, evenings, etc.) • Security, integrity and confidentiality of data • Oversee adherance to office policies and procedures as well as regulatory compliance • Analyze, enhance and monitor internal processes • Maintain office and builidng supplies inventory, review purchases • Perform other duties as required and consistent with this position Competitive salary, benefits and vacation package offered.
