Part-Time Religious School 6th Grade Teacher
Synagogue School Sixth Grade Teacher:
How Being Jewish Can Help You Survive Middle School
Sunday Mornings 9:00 – 12:30
Beth Chaim Congregation in Danville is seeking to hire a Sixth Grade teacher for our Sunday Morning program (Our School year begins 9/16 and ends 5/19).
We are looking for a dynamic, spiritually-alive teacher to inspire and engage children entering the emotional battleground known as Middle School.
We begin each morning with a half-hour all school assembly filled with music and other wake-up exercises. When the Sixth Grade class begins, there will be a theme/challenge (social, developmental, experiential, gender-related, body-image related, social media related, etc.) for each session of the year.
The first hour of class will be clarifying and better understanding the challenge of that session and inviting the students to share their own personal experiences related to this challenge.
After a break, the last hour will be utilizing Jewish teachings (texts, values, concepts) presented creatively and interactively to help our students understand tools that the Jewish tradition offers them to respond to these challenges.
In addition to the hourly wage for the class, Beth Chaim compensates for drive time, and mileage to and from the synagogue as well as any faculty meetings or programs that teachers are asked to attend.
